About Nylah

Hello! I'm Nylah. I am honored that you are considering Easing Earthside on this journey to parenthood.

I am a Durham-native. I graduated from Carolina in 2017 where I studied psychology and public policy.

Working with families has been a passion of mine since 2013. I have worked in classrooms as a lead teacher and as a nanny of children ages 4 months to 14 years. My favorite part of working with families is actively listening as they describe areas where they could use support and then co-creating a plan that best serves them.

I decided to make the transition from the classroom to birth work in September of 2020. I took a Birth Doula training with the National Black Doula Association and I loved my experience so much that I took a Postpartum Doula training with them the following month. The following year, I chose to expand my training as enrolled in a course with Birth Advocacy Doula Training. Most recently, I enrolled in a course as a Fertility Doula course with International Black Doula training.

When I'm not working, you can find me trying new recipes in the kitchen, walking my dog (Kovu), learning how to crochet, or watching Netflix with my cat (Sebastian).

About Your Doula: About Me

“Birth matters, and I believe the way a child is brought into the world has an important impact on the rest of life. Helping with that transition is an honor.”
